Concept 2 - Employee App

On concept 2, the app was focused directly towards members of staff within the business. From our original research, we found that Topshop's Tapp app just posted the rota online in an in-app browser for the staff to see. This isn't a very efficient process for the members of staff, especially if they need to swap a shift. Also through personal experience, we found that rota's are never the most efficient way of showing your shifts. For our employee app, wanted to make the process of working with shifts a smooth process.
The things we wanted to include on the employee app were:
• An up-to-date view of the person's upcoming shifts
• A quick way of shift swapping through the app
• A way of communicating to other employees and managers
• Being able to see a live rota for the week
• The ability to check your current pay for the week/month, as well as viewing previous payslips in-app

When thinking about wireframes, I looked back to concept one and used similar ideas for the layout for the employee app.
For the design, as we had already done a style for the first concept (employer app), we wanted to look at a different design style. We looked back at the visual research and picked colours, layout and styles and tried to build together a good looking app. Below you can see the initial designs for the employee app.

The main theme throughout this app is to keep a more simplistic look. This was because a member of staff doesn't need to be overloaded with lots of information. They just need to see when their shifts are, how to request time off and how to contact any other staff members.
I really liked the hamburger menu on the top left as everything else below such as the text sat left aligned and looked really good, as appose to centrally aligned text. The colour used is a lot more dulled down that the previous concept, but it works really well and allows the little accents of colour to pop through.
We are really happy with the layout for this app, but we could look more at the colour and adopting more of a consistent style.
