User Persona and Journey 1

Our first User Persona was built up around the 'manager', Andrew Watts. A brief description of his interests and possessions helped us form a real life persona.

It was essential to detail his interests within the new software. As an older businessman, he isn't completely tech-savvy. He loves the simple flow of his Apple iPhone and iPad, and how he was easily able to set up iCloud in order for them to display the same content on any device. This definitely confirms he's love a cloud based system where all his business details are in one place. Payroll scares Andrew because of the boring interface. He would much prefer an automated system, as well as a system that offers live data to eliminate confusion for his staff. This ensures any communication he has with staff would be more urgent, e.g. any holiday or sick alerts.

The user journey for Andrew analysed his current situation when building and organising staff for shifts. The main focus for the journey is the opportunities we could experiment with at each stage of the process. At the moment, it involved a lot of cross media data, whether this is his mobile calender, emails, a physical file of employee availability or his phone contacts. It wastes his vital time. Instead, an interconnected system could provide essential employee details and filter them, allowing him to easily see who can work which shifts, and the cost this will have to his profit.

Communication is a massive opportunity we cannot afford to miss. It needs to go from management to employee and vice versa. This offers a simple and connected way to discuss any urgent issues or problems with shifts. Everyone knows where to contact each other, which will elimiate stress and any negative feelings towards problems realted to work.
